A place to relax

With the growth of the Muslim community in the Dundee area, there was a need to provide better and increased facilities to all community members, especially the young, providing the oppurtunity for them to utilize their spare time in a positive manner. To fulfil this need we needed a separate building ideally near the central mosque of Dundee so that members of the community can enjoy their spare time (especially between prayer’s jamaat times) by involving themselves in different activities. There was a vacant building adjacent to Dundee Central Mosque that was previously used by the Railway Club. With the grace of Allah Dundee Islamic Society bought this double story building in 2009 and renovated it according to the needs of the community.

After renovation this building consists of:

• One big hall (upstairs) for meetings, wedding ceremonies, other religious and social activities.
• One big games hall (ground floor) equiped with different types of indoor games e.g. table tennis, snooker and many others.
• Restaurant/Coffee shop (ground floor) where you can enjoy a variety of eastern and western good quality HALAL food, coffee and tea.
• A shop (upstairs) from where you can buy gifts, ornaments, confectionary and other religious printed and soft material.

It is called Dundee Community Centre (DCC) and opened for the Muslim community in July 2011.
Dundee Community Centre is run by a separate management team that is always ready to help you.
