Islam from Qualified Scholars.

The Madrasah was founded by Dundee’s Muslim community to support the educational needs of all Muslim children. We endeavor to provide a spiritual environment that enables Muslim children to read the Holy Qur’an with Tajwid, help them understand the real meaning of Islam and finally to create conditions and provide fertile ground for the cultivation of proper Islamic way of life.

The Madrasah currently has 180 students learning under the guidance and supervision of Shaikh Mohammed Abdul Rauf and Shaikh Hamza Khandwalla.

  • Islamic education is the cornerstone of being a good Muslim and citizen.
  • Do you want your child to learn how to read the Holy Quran properly?
  • Gain Islamic knowledge?
  • Then go no further! Enroll your child/children to the Madrasah at Dundee Central Mosque.

Please download and fill out the admission form and deliver it by hand to any of the teachers at the upper floor hall of the mosque during Madrasah hours (05:00 PM to 07:30 PM, Monday to Friday).

We enroll children from the age of 5 (independent to natural needs) and above. All applications received will be dealt with on a first come first serve basis. It is in your best interest to return the form fully completed to us as soon as possible as we have a limited number of places in each class.

  • Introducing the life of the Holy Prophet Sallallahu alaihe wa sallam and other Prophets Alaihim salaam
  • Teaching manners and conduct in line with Islamic etiquette and beliefs.
  • Memorisation of the Holy Qura’an.

Hints for Parents

The following hints will result in your child to become not only an ideal Muslim but also a member of the wider community:

  1. Please encourage religious education at home.
  2. Include your children in your daily prayers & recitation of the Holy Qura’an.
  3. Encourage your child by taking an interest in their everyday progress e.g. by checking and helping them with their homework.
  4. Occasionally test your children on the education they receive by enquiring    about the methods of Salaah, memorisation of Surah’s, Dua’as, Kalimahs etc.
  5. Encourage your child to respect ALL teachers and elders at all times and have good and moral character.
  6. Our aim should be to try every proper method, which would encourage a child to practice our religion.

Rules & Regulations

Students follow a structured syllabus throughout their time at the Madrasa and progress is assessed annually through oral and written examinations. The majority of Islamic books used by the students are written in English. Students are also taught Arabic and ‘Tajweed’, the correct pronunciation of the Holy Quraan in Arabic.

GENERAL

  1. Admission: Minimum age for admission to the Madrasah is 5; provided that the child is independent of assistance in their necessities e.g. toilet and ablution.
  2. Registration Form: To be completed and signed by the Parent/Guardian and handed to the Teacher.
  3. Madrasah Year: Commences from January to December.
  4. Timings and Attendance: Madrasah operates between 4:55pm and 7:00pm (Hifz class 7:20pm) – Monday to Friday.
    • It is essential for students to attend the class daily on time.
    • All absences MUST be authorised by Parents. Pupils will not be granted permission without an authorisation letter.
    • If a child fails to attend class for 3 weeks or more continuously without prior notification, it will lead to the child’s name being struck off the register. Re-admission to the Madrasah will be required.
  5. Late Pickup: If for some unavoidable reason you are unable to arrive in time to collect your child after Madrasah Class, please inform the Madrasah immediately so arrangements can be made to look after your child.

  7. Group System: Madrasah operates a group system, which means that the child will progress with the rest of the group in the class. If a pupil is absent for a week then he will join the group from wherever they have progressed to, and he/she will have to make up the missed lessons on his/her own time, therefore it is vital that attendance is maintained.
  8. Assignment of class: Please note that the assignment of students will be done according to class and not the personal choice or preference of the parents/guardians. A child cannot change classes without formal approval of head teacher.
